I first spoke to Elizabeth when my little boy was 2 weeks old. To say I was in a dark place would be an understatement; I was frustrated, emotional, in pain and, to my disappointment, I felt like my breastfeeding journey was coming to an end. Elizabeth turned everything around for me. By asking the right questions, she understood what I was going through, she was calm, caring and sympathetic, and she shared the practical tools (positions, latch, nutrition etc) to improve my breastfeeding experience. When things didn’t work, she quickly suggested another solution - checking in with me regularly to make sure I was coping. A year on, I am still breastfeeding in the mornings. I’m so proud of getting to this point; I know I would not be here without Elizabeth’s support. To anyone trying to breastfeed their baby and thinking they can’t, it is so normal to feel that way and the reality is that for most of us it is near impossible to persevere without someone there to show you what to do. The best thing I did was to seek Elizabeth’s help, and keep trying. There are so many benefits of breastfeeding (ease, emotional bonding, health), you just need help getting over that initial hurdle.

Elizabeth was the most wonderful support throughout my breastfeeding journey. The amount of time she gave to me and my little family is something that I will be forever grateful for. In the early days and weeks when things were tricky (with birth weight loss, tongue tie, blocked ducts) Elizabeth became my go to, not only for her advice but for her words of encouragement and support in every single one of my decisions. When I was struggling, she was so incredibly kind, patient and knowledgeable in suggesting different techniques as well as ways to hold my baby. I learnt so much about breastfeeding because of Elizabeth and overcame so many initial hurdles to go on and have the most special time nursing my little boy that I’ll forever cherish

I was put touch with Elizabeth through a friend after giving birth to my son, two months prematurely. I found the transition from solely pumping whilst Freddie was in hospital, to breastfeeding when he finally came home after a month extremely challenging. My boobs were all sorts of crazy and I honestly would not have continued with my breastfeeding journey without the help and support of Elizabeth. Between the phone calls and messages, I felt so well looked after and completely trusted the process Elizabeth was guiding me through. Elizabeth is not only an expert in lactation, but also a mother and a grandmother so has such fantastic advice about all things! We couldn’t have asked for a better, more thoughtful or more helpful person with our early stages breastfeeding journey. Elizabeth was extremely supportive and helpful with reassuring any and all queries that we had and provided her expert advice, regularly setting up FaceTime calls and in person meets to assist where needed. From a dad’s point of view having that support for my partner was invaluable in the early stages and helped ease unnecessary stress and I couldn’t have asked for more.

There are not enough words to describe how the support of Elizabeth helped me through my breastfeeding journey. At 5/6 weeks I became concerned my baby had a tongue tie which led to him being unable to latch properly or for a decent amount of time. Everyone else just told me to use a bottle, a fed baby is a happy baby, but I had this overwhelming urge to breastfeed my child. Elizabeth was there when there were no other support services available. She helped me correct the latch problem as well as talk me through all the feelings that came with being a new mum. Elizabeth wasn’t just 9-5 Monday - Friday either, no matter the time day or night or a weekend, she was there for me, understood and made me believe in myself as a mother. My baby went from preferring the bottle (for feeding top ups) to not wanting it at all (when I decided my breast feeding journey was over due to work commitments). Again, I know Elizabeth would have been there for me on that part with her unwavering support, sympathetic ear and kind words. Elizabeth, you are an incredible human and I owe you my breastfeeding journey.

Elizabeth was there to help at every stage and to provide support at every hurdle I faced - she helped me not only with things like positioning for the correct latch, she also educated me on breastfeeding and provided me with emotional support when I needed it the most.
